Stripe is a payment provider that allows you to accept payments on the internet. Accept payments quickly and reliably across multiple countries to expand your business and grow your brand!
Make a Stripe Account
Navigate to Stripe and click the Start Now button.
Complete the form with your email, name, password, then press the Create account button to make your Stripe account.
Verify your email by going to your email provider and finding your Stripe account verification email.
Press the Verify your email button to confirm your new account creation.
In the Stripe welcome prompt, press the Activate payments button to set up your account. You will need to provide some basic personal or business information before using Stripe payment services.
Select your country and business type. Country is where you operate or live, and business type is Individual if you have yet to create a legal entity. Most new creators do not have a legal business which is fine! You may accept payments without a formal business structure although it is your responsibility to follow your tax and regional guidelines.
If you have a legal entity, select the appropriate business type. This guide uses the personal business type for quick setup!
Verify your personal details which Stripe uses to confirm your identity, then press the Continue button.
Select your industry, insert your website, and a brief product description. Industry includes an option for Digital products with sub-categories like books or media. If you don’t have a website you may insert your social media page url. A brief product description may include digital products related to your niche.
Describe how you fulfill orders, which means how you send your products to your customers. Select the Within one day option unless there is further delay for your customers to receive their ordered products.
Add public details for your customers to include a billing statement descriptor on debit or credit card statements, your customer support number and address. Use your personal information if you have no business information to provide.
Add your bank information to receive payments from Stripe. If you cannot find your bank in the search or under the pre-populated options, click the Enter bank details manually instead link to insert your bank account and routing numbers. Use your personal bank information unless you have a business bank account.
Choose a two-step authentication option to keep your account secure. Select SMS to receive text messages for two-step authentication. If you prefer to use Google Authenticator then select the Use an authenticator app option.
Save your unique backup code in case you lose your device and cannot authenticate with your second approved method. This allows two-step authentication to be disabled temporarily so you may log into Stripe with only your email account credentials.
Confirm your sales tax calculations by selecting your product category in the drop-down menu. The default product category is pre-populated based the industry you selected when verifying your business. Stripe will automatically calculate and collect taxes for you.
The final Stripe account setup option allows you to donate a portion of your proceeds to fund Clime contributions. This is your personal choice to select a percentage to donate. If you do not want to donate to Stripe Climate, press the No Thanks button.
Review your Stripe account information to finish the account creation process. Press the Agree & Submit button to complete account setup.
You are taken to your Stripe dashboard once account creation is complete.
